2010 Annual Meeting Registration and Proposal Forms

The American Folklore Society will hold its 122nd annual meeting at the Hilton Nashville Downtown in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 13-16, 2010. The theme for this meeting, on which presentations are encouraged but not required, is Lay and Expert Knowledge. The submission deadline for all proposals is March 31, 2010.

Important Note

Don't use the "Back" button to go back and make changes to earlier pages of your submission.

If you use your browser's back button while completing these forms, it is possible that you will submit your information multiple times. Don't try to go back and correct any information on a previous page.

You can, however, make changes to any field on the page you are currently viewing. Just make certain that the information on the current page is correct before proceeding to the next page.

If you later realize that you entered something in error, please contact the AFS web manager.

I want to:

1. Submit a proposal for an individual presentation or organized session

Follow this link to submit a proposal for an individual presentation (a paper or a poster presentation) or for an organized session (a panel, a poster session, a forum, or a media session) that you are chairing.

If you are to be a presenter in an organized session, for which your chair will submit the proposal, you will need to register for the meeting yourself. Please do so by selecting option 2 below.

2. Register for the meeting online

Please select this option if you are to be a presenter in an organized session--even though your chair will submit your proposal, you must still register for the meeting here--or if you want only to attend the meeting and will not be submitting a proposal for the program.

You do not need to register through this option if you are chair or an individual submitting a proposal through the link above. Registration is included in the proposal submission process.

3. Propose an AFS 2010 annual meeting professional development workshop online

Follow this link to submit the proposal for your workshop.

4. Propose an AFS 2010 annual meeting special event online

Follow this link to request a time and location for your special event. This form is only for events such as section business meetings or receptions; breakfast, lunch, or dinner meetings; and the like. Section leaders: Please use the regular proposal process (#1 above) to propose section-sponsored organized sessions or invited lectures.

5. Submit my individual proposal and/or meeting registration by mail.

If you prefer to mail in your registration and proposal, you may download all of the registration and proposal forms in PDF or Microsoft Word format. NOTE: If you are the chair of a organized session of any kind (panel, poster session, forum, media session) you MUST register and submit your session proposal online; you cannot do so by mail.
