The American Folklore Society publishes a quarterly journal, the Journal of American Folklore; it also published the AFSNews through 2008.

Several AFS interest-group sections also produce publications.

In 2010, AFS News content will begin appearing on the AFS web site. To fill the gap, during 2009 the Society is distributing monthly online news bulletins.
