Obituary

Bruce Buckley, one of the founders and primary shapers of the Cooperstown Graduate Program, died on August 2, 1997. Buckley was known as an inspiring teacher. His courses sent students out into the communities of central New York to gather music, measure buildings, sample local foodways and document regional traditions. His outstanding contribution to New York State folklore placed him among its most senior and significant folklorists. The Cooperstown Graduate Alumni newsletter ran a full obituary and remembrances of Bruce in its fall issue. If you would like to contribute a memory or photograph to the alumni office, please contact Cathy Raddatz, Coordinator of Alumni Affairs, Cooperstown Graduate Program, Box 800, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
